We believe it is possible to know God’s will, but that simplifying the concept is terribly important.
Additionally, one cannot know God’s specific will until they are following Jesus as Lord.
Finally, the ability to discern is developed through sanctification and the process of growing in spiritual disciplines.
This last entry will address how spiritual gifts relate to knowing, understanding, and following God’s will.
The Spiritual Gifts
The Bible lists several spiritual gifts the Holy Spirit might have equipped you with.
We love www.gotquestions.org spiritual gift assessment, which you can find here.
This fairly comprehensive list details the many spiritual gifts, even breaking them down into the gifts that serve the functions of the church today, and the ones which served the early church.
It’s been often stated, “what God has called you to do, He’s equipped you to do; what He’s equipped you to do, He’s called you to do.” There is a lot of truth to such a statement. When you have been called to serve the Lord, He will certainly equip you to accomplish the task. This is, primarily done, through equipping you with spiritual gifts.
When discerning God’s call, a necessary evaluation of the spiritual gifts is incredibly beneficial. Personally, we recommend all Christians take a spiritual gifts assessment.
While an assessment is certainly not the Holy Spirit, it can serve as a very suitable confirmation on what your talents and gifts are.
Specifically, we recommend the spiritual gifts assessment at churchgrowth.org. You can find it here.
Upon taking the spiritual gift assessment, your potential spiritual gifts will be highlighted. We believe such assessments help to confirm the calling God has placed on your life. The results will unlikely surprise you; you will expect them. The gifts you find will naturally compliment your personality, desires, and passion.
Finding and knowing your spiritual gifts is of the utmost importance. Not every believer has the gift of teaching. Don’t fret if you score lower in a particular spiritual gift during your assessment, this is by design.
God made you a specific way. He designed you how He wanted you. He equipped you to do the things He’s called you to do.
Understanding what your spiritual gifts are, goes a long way in determining just exactly where God wants you.
