WEEK 1

God’s Eternal Book by Dwayne Raines

“All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;” 2 Timothy 3:16

My friends and I were always excited as the school year came to a close.  Summer was near and it was time to go to our favorite fishing holes and hang out at the local pool.  Another thing we looked forward to was receiving our annual school yearbook.  We would flip through the pages and look at everyone’s picture, you could really tell a lot about a person from the snap shots taken of them throughout the school year.  Their personal features, hobbies, activities they were involved in, and people they were friends with were all captured from random photographs and strategically organized into this book. It’s amazing what you can learn about an individual just by flipping through the pages of a book!

As Christians we need to constantly be seeking God and looking at his personality, one way we can do this is by looking at God’s yearbook or better yet God’s Eternal Book known as the Bible.  2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;” This verse tells us that ALL SCRIPTURE   is inspired by God, he had 100% input of every single word in the Bible.  As we flip through the pages of the Bible we are getting a glimpse of God’s character. We see his likes, dislikes, and his love for humankind.

Not only do we get to see God’s character in this book but we get instructions on how we should live our lives. He shows us how to battle our temptations, conquer our fears, and how to treat other people in this world.  But the most important thing this book does is show us the love God has for us and how he gave his son for us, and how our lives should resemble the life of his son.

So the question is, do you have a copy of God’s Eternal book?  If so are you reading it?
